What do Hummingbirds eat in the wild?

How often do hummers eat?

Why aren't hummers afraid of large animals?

Hi Josh

You have asked some great questions about Hummingbirds!

They are beautiful, fascinating little birds and there is a lot to know about them.

You have asked 3 questions and I will answer them in order:

    1. Hummingbirds drink nectar from a variety of plants. They also eat little bugs. It is quite handy as bugs are always crawling around plants with flowers where they get their nectar.

    2. Hummers eat very frequently all day. They will not go much longer than ten to fifteen minutes inbetween chowing down. They can visit 1000 flowers per day.

    3. As far as I know there is no proof that Hummingbirds are not afraid of large animals. Some Hummingbirds such as the Ruby Throated Hummingbird and the Rufous Hummingbird display a great deal of fiestiness which may give the appearance of not being afraid.
